MCT oil consists of medium-chain triglycerides, a type of fat with shorter fatty acid chains than many of the fats that dominate in everyday foods.
Ordinary long-chain fats are broken down, repackaged and largely transported via the lymphatic system before they reach the blood. MCT fatty acids, by contrast, are to a greater extent absorbed directly into the portal vein and transported to the liver, where they can quickly be converted into energy.
In GO100, we use MCT oil from coconut. It gives the bar a fast energy component while also contributing to its soft texture and full-bodied feel.
Each GO100 contains approximately 6 grams of MCT oil. Together with carbohydrates from dates and tigernuts, fibre, resistant starch, collagen protein and glutamine, MCT oil becomes an important part of GO100’s more complex energy profile.

What is MCT oil?
MCT stands for medium-chain triglycerides.
Triglycerides are the form in which fat most commonly occurs in food. They consist of glycerol and three fatty acids. What makes MCT special is that the fatty acids are medium-chain, typically with 6–12 carbon atoms.
The shorter chain length means that the body handles MCT fat differently from long-chain fats. That is the property that makes MCT oil interesting in GO100.
What does medium-chain triglycerides mean?
Fatty acids are often classified according to the length of their carbon chains.
Short-chain fatty acids have very short chains and are formed, among other things, when bacteria ferment fibre in the large intestine.
Medium-chain fatty acids have longer chains than these, but shorter chains than many common dietary fats.
Long-chain fatty acids are the type of fat that dominates in foods such as oils, nuts, seeds, avocado, meat and dairy products.

How is MCT absorbed compared with ordinary fat?
Most fats in the diet consist mainly of long-chain fatty acids. After digestion, they are largely packaged into particles that are transported via the lymphatic system before they reach the bloodstream.
MCT fatty acids are shorter. They are therefore absorbed and transported in a different way. To a greater extent, they go directly via the portal vein to the liver, where they can quickly enter the body’s energy metabolism.
It is this shorter route that makes MCT oil interesting in GO100: it contributes fat and energy, but in a different way from many common dietary fats.
Which fatty acids are found in MCT oil?
MCT oil can contain different medium-chain fatty acids, mainly:
- C8 – caprylic acid
- C10 – capric acid
- C12 – lauric acid
Many MCT oils used in foods consist mainly of C8 and C10. These differ from ordinary coconut oil, which also contains a large proportion of lauric acid and other fatty acids.
In GO100, we use MCT oil from coconut as a clean and neutral fat source in the recipe.
Is MCT oil the same as coconut oil?
No. MCT oil can be made from coconut oil, but it is not the same as ordinary coconut oil.
Coconut oil contains a mixture of different fatty acids. MCT oil is more concentrated and produced to contain a higher proportion of medium-chain triglycerides.
Why does GO100 contain MCT oil?
We chose MCT oil because it suits GO100 in several ways.
It contributes fat and energy, but also a soft and full-bodied texture. It helps create a bar that feels rounder and more satisfying than many dry protein or fibre bars.
MCT oil also fits the broader idea behind GO100: a recipe in which different ingredients are handled by the body in different ways. Resistant starch passes through the small intestine and reaches the large intestine. Collagen is broken down into amino acids and peptides. MCT fatty acids are absorbed and metabolised differently from many long-chain fats.
Together, this creates a bar with a composition that differs from other bars.
Does MCT oil provide energy?
What makes MCT special is that the medium-chain fatty acids are absorbed and transported differently from many long-chain fatty acids. That is why MCT is often described as a fat that the body can metabolise relatively quickly.
Is GO100 a keto bar?
No, GO100 is not developed as a keto bar.
GO100 contains MCT oil, but also dates, tigernuts and resistant starch. This makes the bar something different from a classic low-carb or keto product.
Our goal is not to create an extreme diet product, but a daily premium bar with an unusual and carefully designed recipe.
How much MCT oil does GO100 contain?
Each GO100 contains approximately 6 grams of MCT oil.
That is enough for the MCT oil to be a clear part of the recipe, both in terms of nutritional profile and texture. At the same time, it is well balanced with the other ingredients.
Does the body need time to adjust to MCT oil?
MCT oil is tolerated differently by different people. A larger amount of MCT at once may cause digestive discomfort in some people, especially if they are not used to it.
GO100 contains MCT oil as part of a complete bar, not as pure oil in large doses.
Is GO100 suitable before training?
Yes. GO100 works well as a snack before training when you want something more thoughtfully designed than an ordinary energy bar.
MCT oil and carbohydrates provide energy that the body can use relatively quickly, while fibre and resistant starch make the energy profile more complex. GO100 also contains collagen protein and glutamine, an amino acid used by the body in many tissues, including during physical exertion.
